Arabian / Aladdin Theme Party Activities

Depending on the age group of your guests, you might like to have a few activities planned for your Arabian themed party. Even adults can have fun with a couple activities made available to participate in at their leisure.

Arabian / Aladdin Theme Party Activities #1: Allow the kids to make their own Aladdin swords. This is great as a pre-party activity to give the kids something to do while they are waiting for all of the other guests to arrive. Here are some options to consider:

o Standard poster board will work, but foam core is much sturdier and will hold its shape when held up. Keep in mind that if you are going to use foam core, because of its thickness, you’ll need to cut them out in advance or else some kids won’t have their sword until the end of the party.

o Allow the kids an opportunity to decorate their swords in a variety of ways using simple craft supplies such as markers, construction paper and stickers. Glitter looks nice, but takes a long time to dry – so consider this carefully.

o If you are going to be using the swords as props only and will be making them in advance, consider spray painting the blades with silver spray paint.

o If you are planning on incorporating several activities for the kids to participate in, use a rubber stamp and ink (or stickers) to mark on the swords each time they complete a task. You can either use different stamps/sticker images or the same one repeatedly. You can also provide for the option of offering prizes for different numbers of stamps/stickers they collect throughout the party.

Arabian / Aladdin Theme Party Activities #2: Pull that fake Christmas tree out of the garage and set it up in the corner of the room (any large fake tree would work – borrowing one from a friend is also an option.) Create a Wishing Tree for your guests to hang three of their wishes. Consider the following options for your wishing tree.

o The ornaments can be simple cut out pieces of paper in circles and/or squares or you can use cut out shapes of magic lamps, carpets, etc. Make sure that there is plenty of room for your guests to write their wishes on them, though.

o Di-cuts from your local scrapbooking store are a quicker solution, but more costly than making your own from paper.

o You can either pre-print the ornaments to be cut out or just leave them blank.

o You have the option on whether or not you’d like your guests to put their names on them. If they DON’T put their names on them, a fun game later on would be for everyone to guess which guest made which set of three wishes.

o Although Christmas hooks are a quick solution for hanging them on the tree, simple paperclips will also work.

o This can also be turned into an activity by providing minor craft supplies to allow your guests to decorate their ornaments.

Arabian / Aladdin Theme Party Activities #3: Cut a lot of different colored one inch squares from construction paper. Instruct your guests to create a mosaic using the cut out squares, gluing them on solid, whole sheets of construction paper. They can also be all glued to a very large sheet of unrolled butcher paper – however consider the fact that arms get tired from being raised to glue on the larger sheets. Although seemingly this activity is for children, consider this activity for adults as well, allowing your guests to express their creative and artistic sides.

Arabian / Aladdin Theme Party Activities #4: Everyone loves a good haunted house. Well, don’t wait until Halloween…give them some great fun at your Arabian themed party! Instead of a ‘haunted house,’ create a haunted cave (think of the Cave of Wonders from Aladdin.) Use all the tips and tricks in the DECORATIONS section to create a spooky network of tunnels for your guests to ‘safely’ get through. Some items to include would be spider webs, scary music, skeletons, volunteers dressed up like evil genies, snakes, scorpions, etc. This could work as a separate activity…or something fantastic to walk through in order to enter your party or event!
